Paul & Remy Hoggard

Sculpting Stories from the Sand.

At the heart of Sandartist Ltd is a partnership that spans three decades, thirty countries, and millions of grains of sand. Paul and Remy Hoggard are more than just master sculptors; they are storytellers who work with the most transient medium on earth to create memories that last a lifetime.

Paul Hoggard: The Visionary & Performer

Paul’s journey began as a "revelation" on a quiet beach in India in 1991. What started as simple play transformed into a lifelong vocation that has seen him become a global authority on sand art.

With a background that bridges the gap between high art and the silver screen, Paul is a professional model and actor (represented by Ugly Models UK and Starbox Casting Bulgaria) who brings a unique "camera-ready" energy to every performance. His career is anchored by prestigious milestones that few can match: from installing the monumental "Adoration of the Magi" in Truro Cathedral (1996) to being personally commissioned by the Royal Cornwall Show to sculpt for and meet Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Whether he is inspiring children on BBC Blue Peter or launching Hollywood blockbusters like Prince of Persia, Paul’s work is a celebration of the human spirit.

Remy Hoggard: The Soul of the Sculpture

Joining forces with Paul in 2002, Remy (formerly Geerts) brought a profound emotive depth to their collaborations. Growing up in the Netherlands, Remy’s hands were in the sand from her earliest memories. She is world-renowned for her "breathing" human faces and intricate owl motifs—works that focus on the delicate spiritual connection between art and nature.

Remy’s technical precision and artistic soul were recognized at the highest level when she, alongside Paul and Bournemouth Council, was awarded the Gold Award and the President’s Choice at the Chelsea Flower Show. Her work is the "heartbeat" of their sculptures, ensuring that every piece—whether a 50-ton monument or an intimate gallery work—carries a sense of life and emotion.

Our Sustainable Philosophy

We believe that art should be a gentle conversation with the environment. Our work is created using only sand and water. There are no chemicals, no additives, and no permanent footprints—only a zero-impact tribute to the beauty of the natural world.

The Burgas Chapter

For the last five years, we have made the shores of Burgas, Bulgaria, our home. We have fallen in love with the Black Sea and its people. Our residency on the North Beach is our way of giving back, transforming the local sands into icons of Bulgarian pride—from Vasil Levski to the Cyrillic Alphabet.

When we aren't creating for international festivals or Hollywood films, you will find us under our gazebo on the beach, teaching the next generation of artists. We have taught tens of thousands of children globally, and seeing the "spark" of creativity in a child’s eyes remains our greatest reward.

“We don’t just build with sand; we build with time. Our art is for now, but the impression it leaves is eternal.”
